05: Main Menu

The main menu is the easiest menu to use, this is because it is the only menu that is clear on what is being adjusted. To access this menu make sure the home screen active then display either the battery voltage or the model name. Then press enter-SHORT This will open the main menu and there will be 8 different menu's that can be selected: Model, Name, Rev, E. Point, Trim, D/R, EXP, and ABS. Rotating the scroll wheel will change which parameter is highlighted, to select the highlighted parameter just press enter.

Here is a brief description of each feature, they'll be discussed in depth in the following articles.

Model:

This menu changes had only one parameter within it that can be changed. This parameter is the active model, a model is basically a saved file that holds all the settings for a given RC car. Models are useful because they allow the radio to be used on multiple RC vehicles without having to change all the settings every time a different RC vehicle is used.

Name:

The name menu has a parameter and a function. It allows the name of the model to be changed.

Rev:

Rev is short for reverse and reverse is a parameter that changes the direction of a channel.
An example of this could be on channel 2, for throttle. Let's say that pulling the trigger causes the RC vehicle to move backwards. This is generally an undesirable attribute, so the reverse function can be turned on. With reverse turned on, now pulling the trigger will move the RC vehicle forwards.

E. Point:

This menu has one parameter, it is to adjust the End Points of each channel. In other words, it limits the throw of the channel in one direction or the other. The limit on either direction can be adjusted independently.

Trim:

The Trim menu has one parameter, it adjusts the center/neutral position.
Many folks get confused between the difference between trims and sub-trims. In this firmware, trim adjusts the actual center point without moving the endpoints. The downfall to this is that it'll make the throw in one direction longer than the other. For example, lets say that the trim is set for a 2 percent offset to the left. This means that the center is 2% off actual center and there's a 98% throw to the left and a 102% throw to the right. This parameter is only available for channel 1 and channel 2. It is meant for quick, minute changes to the channel. Initial model setup, all trim should be adjusted using the Sub-Trim menu discussed later.

D/R:

D/R stands for Dual Rates...it limits maximum steering or throttle throw without affecting settings like exponentials

EXP:

EXP is short for exponentials (also referred to as expos). Exponentials are a very useful parameter; their main goal is to provide better control of the channel where it is needed. Lets look at steering in a go fast rc vehicle for example. Generally, at high speeds only minor adjustments to the steering is needed to stay on course...but if the adjustment is too jerky or isn't precise enough the end result could be detrimental. This is where expo comes into play, what expo does is it turns the linear steering curve into an exponential steering curve. So the curve can be flatter towards the center of the channel and really steep towards the end of the channel. The outcome makes it so the minor steering adjustments towards the center are accurate and precise but it'll go to full lock much faster and not allow for very accurate sharp turning.

ABS:

The ABS parameter is for braking and it's similar to ABS braking on a full size car. What it does is pulse the brakes to try and prevent skidding.
