12: Exponential Menu

Purpose:

Exponentials are another cool setting which changes the sensitivity of a channel at either low or high side of the channel. The one downfall of exponentials is that in order to get more sensitivity on one side of a channel, the sensitivity on the other side has to be decreased. Here is a graph by Richard Lindberg which shows how expo works.

How to access this menu:

The Exponential Menu is a menu within the Main Menu. To open in up, do the following

  • Starting from the Home Screen
  • Press enter-SHORT
  • Scroll till EXP is lit up
  • Press enter-SHORT
  • This is the Exponential menu

How to use this menu:

Within the Exponential menu there will be 2 secondary menu's, one for steering (Channel 1) and one for throttle (Channel 2). Each secondary menu (each channel) has parameters than can be changed. The steering channel (channel 1) has one parameter, this parameter adjusts both the left and right exponential setting. The throttle channel (channel 2) has two parameters, forwards and backwards/brake exponential settings that can be set separately; use the steering wheel or trigger to switch between the left and right settings (rotate the wheel/trigger back and forth across neutral). Once the exponential menu has been entered use the SCROLL wheel to switch channels. Press enter-SHORT to select the channel. Now use the SCROLL wheel to change the set point. Then press enter-SHORT to go back to the channel selection.

Press enter-LONG or END to exit the menu and return to the main menu. Press BACK to exit the menu and return to the home screen.

So to summarize

  • Use SCROLL to switch the active channel
  • Press enter-SHORT to select the active channel
  • Use SCROLL to adjust the setting
  • ~Use the steering wheel or trigger to select between left/right settings
  • Press enter-SHORT to return to channel selection
  • Use enter-LONG, END, or BACK to exit the menu.

Screen Indicators:

While the Exponential Menu is open, the following should occur

  • EXP in the top menu bar is lit up and "Channel:" on the left will be lit up, and the "%" on the right will be light up
  • If in channel selection, the 7 segment number will be blinking. This is the active channel
  • If adjusting the Exponent setting, the 3 character dot display will be blinking the current setting
  • If adjusting the throttle exponential, The arrows above the 3 character dot display will indicate which indicates which setting for Forward vs Backwards direction is being adjusted/displayed
