Purpose:
The purpose of the Backlight time mini menu is to set how long the screen stays backlit after is key/button is pressed. This is useful because the light being on can be distracting and significantly reduce battery life. Having the option to adjust the on time parameter allows every individual to fine tune this to their desire.
How to access this sub menu:
The Backlight menu is accessible from the the Global Menu. It should be the second mini menu upon entering the Global Menu. To find it scroll till there is an L shown on the seven segment display.
- Starting from the Home Screen
- Press enter-LONG
- Scroll till L is shown on the seven segment display
- Press enter-SHORT
How to use this menu:
There is only one parameter that can be changed in this mini menu, the ON time parameter. After entering the mini menu, the scroll wheel can change the amount of time the screen stays on. Anywhere between 5 seconds to indefinitely.
- Use the scroll wheel to adjust the ON time value
- Press enter-SHORT to return to the global menu
- Or press enter-LONG, END, or BACK to exit the menu.
Screen Indicators:
While the Backlight Mini Menu is open, the following should occur
- The Model and Name icon at the top of the screen will be flashing back and forth
- There will be an L in the seven segment display

When the backlight is ON, about 20% of the radio's power consumption is used to light the LCD
